Kimberly has a Masters in Children & Family
Ministry from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN., and
is an ordained Elder in the Free Methodist Church. She
has 21+ years of ministry experience, and is responsible
for ministry to children from birth thru High School.
Kimberly believes ministry to children & youth is
a partnership with parents. To effectively develop this
partnership, she also feels it is important to support
and encourage parents to become the spiritual guides
their children need. She has been married to her husband,
Mark, since 1984 and has four children: Cortland, Micah,
Jordan, & Caleb. Her hobbies include reading, counted
cross-stitch, camping, watching her son play football,
bike riding, gardening, coffee, her 2 cats, and travel.
After receiving his B.A. from Central Wesleyan
College, Central, S.C. in 1977 Dr. Burgess entered the
pastoral ministry at the South Haven, MI Free Methodist
Church. Over the ensuing years he held several pastoral
positions including senior pastorates and staff work
in youth, music, and outreach ministries. In May 1988
he received his M.S. in Psychology from Virginia State
University in Petersburg, VA. That fall he took his
first position in the mental health field in a position
as the counselor/social worker for the Bangor, MI Public
Schools’ Alternative High School. He later worked
in private practice and spent almost seven years as
a senior staff therapist at Woodlands Mental Health
in Cassopolis, MI. In April 1998 he was awarded his
Ed.D. by Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI
in the area of Counselor Education and Supervision with
and emphasis in marriage and family counseling. That
fall he opened Burgess Family Ministry and Consultation
Service, a private counseling and training agency. In
addition to his practice Dr. Burgess serves part-time
as the Counseling and Biker Pastor at the Kalamazoo
Free Methodist Church.
Dr. Burgess has been married to his high school sweetheart
for over 30 years. He is the father of four and enjoys
his grandchildren.
